This natural 1.57 carat emerald cut emerald has a sparkle that I would expect to see in a diamond. The balance of color, clarity and superb cutting come together to make this a show stopper. The emerald measures 8.68 mm in length by 6.48 mm in width by 3.89 mm in depth and is the perfect size for either a ring or a pendant. There is a small barely visible inclusion that was centered by the gem cutter to make it a feature of the gemstone instead of a flaw.
This emerald is from Brazil is not clarity enhanced. Most emeralds are filled with oil or epoxy glue type compounds to mask the severity of the inclusions. These fillers change or leach out with time making the treated emeralds more apt to shatter with normal wear.
